Abe

Looking for a buddy with plenty of energy to go with you on adventures but still chill enough to hang at home when you’re busy? At 7 years old Abe is the perfect combo of fun loving and energetic, yet calm and laid back when it’s time to relax.

Abe is great in the house when left alone and there is no need to crate him, he doesn’t touch a thing. He loves to be with his people and enjoys following his foster mom around. Abe absolutely loves being pet and will melt into you if you give him scratches and belly rubs. He is super affectionate and just loves everyone he meets. Often it is easy to see a gender preference with a mature dog and Abe has an affection for males, but is almost equally drawn to females. He would do great with a mom, dad or both. He loves everyone!

Abe is housebroken and great in the car. He is a very quick learner of your routine and is very eager to please. Abe loves to play ball and will fetch again and again (if you have ever had a Lab you know the routine). He quickly learned to drop the ball and sit/stay for the next throw. Abe loves peanut butter stuffed femur bones (or kongs) and his foster mom freezes them for a relaxing treat. He is alert in the house when he hears someone approaching but is easily redirected with cheerful praise.

Abe’s ideal home would have a fenced yard so he can enjoy his games of fetch. Due to his size we would recommend no small children as they could easily be knocked over (he has been great with humans of all size). He is polite with other dogs in public but would likely do best without another dog in the home.

This boy is such an affectionate, well mannered dog. What we would call an easy keeper. He will be the highlight of his new family’s life in no time.
