Meet sweet and lovable, Rusty!
To say Rusty has lived a terrible life, would be a complete understatement! At the age of 1, Rusty was brought to where he thought would be his new loving home.
Little did poor Rusty know, he was going to spend the next 3.5 years outside on a 25lbs chain attached to a makeshift doghouse. You all know what it is like here in the northeast, during the winter, right? It’s wet and COLD! Sadly, we see more of this than you would believe.
Thanks to one of our wonderful fosters, Rusty is safe and warm now. He is ready and can’t wait to start his new life in a loving home.
Rusty is 4-5 years old, and his foster mom describes him as having the “sweetest demeanor.” He is just so happy to be indoors and loved. Even though he has lived outside for so long, he is completely housebroken, and has no need to be crated. Rusty is also very much a gentleman. He will not get up on the furniture, unless he is invited.
Rusty is a very calm and easy dog. He could live easily in an apartment or home. He is quite content being a couch potato, but also enjoys playing with his toys. Toys are an exciting new thing for Rusty, not something he has experienced before.
He walks well on a leash, and doesn’t chew on anything he isn’t supposed to. Rusty also does well in the car. He’s willing to ride in a crate or be your shotgun buddy! Every time Rusty gets in the car, he experiences a new view and appears to just be in awe.
We have to mention how smart he is as well! In the short amount of time he has been with his foster mom, he has already learned, sit, give paw, and come! Who doesn’t love a smart dog?!
At this point, Rusty has not been dog tested BUT he definitely can be tested with a female upon request. His current foster home doesn’t have a female that he can be tested with. We also feel a home without cats is best due to the fact, he has never been socialized with one.
