Octavia is about 2 years old, and a svelte 45 lbs. She looks like she might be a basenji mix. Earlier this year, she had a litter of 7 beautiful puppies, and now is ready for her own home.
Octavia is very social and loving toward people and other dogs. In foster, she is friendly toward the household cat, but needs reminders not to chase him for fun.
She is a natural athlete, very quick on her feet, and a graceful runner. For now, though, she will need to be kept at a low activity level through the end of August, to complete her heartworm treatment safely.
Octavia is 100% housetrained, and will always let you know when she needs to go out for potty time. She has made steady progress with walking on a leash; so far, she does best using a simple front-pull harness.
She is highly treat- and food-motivated, and also responds to gentle pets and praise to reinforce good behavior.
She has a natural drive to hunt small critters. Moles and mice will be on notice around Octavia’s home.
A fenced-in yard that gives Octavia a chance to sprint daily would be ideal. A dog brother would be great (any size is fine!), but she’s also happy to shower all her affection on her people.
