ABOUT ME

Meet Lincoln, a 2-year-old male dog who is looking for his forever home. Lincoln is a mix of Doberman pinscher, lab, and pitbull, and weighs around 60 pounds.

He was a stray before being taken in by a foster family who adores him. Lincoln is a very active dog who loves to play fetch and go for walks, and he would make an excellent hiking buddy. He does pull on his leash if he sees a friendly-looking bird or rabbit, but he is eager to please his people and is currently working on this behavior. Lincoln is also very intelligent and has already learned several commands, including sit, stay, come, shake, lay down, and touch.

He also loves giving hugs, which he knows to give by the signal two taps on the chest. He is housebroken. While Lincoln is friendly with other dogs, he is still a young and rambunctious boy. He could be placed with a female dog on a case-by-case basis.

He has not been tested with cats and would likely do best in a cat-free household.

Lincoln currently stays crated when his foster parents are out of the house, and he would benefit from continued crate training as it helps him to relax. He can become anxious if left alone outside of his crate. He does bark initially when left in the crate before he settles in to nap so he may be too loud for folks who share walls with their neighbors. Above all, Lincoln is a very affectionate and loving dog who adores attention from his favorite people.

He loves to be petted and scratched, and he will follow his foster parents around the house, always ready for playtime or a cuddle session. Lincoln would do well in a home with a fenced yard or a lead, and he needs an active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and attention.

Adoption Requirements

• All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
• Any children in the home or visiting regularly should be at least 5 years of age.
• Any current animals in the home must be spayed or neutered.
• We adopt to locations within a 2 hour radius from the Albany NY area (excluding Canada).
• We DO NOT ship dogs. It is important to us that you meet a dog prior to adoption.
• Opposite sex placements only. Exceptions made only when the dog in the adoptive home is a SENIOR for its breed (at our discretion) and the dog being adopted is a puppy.
• Everyone in the home must be in agreement about adding a new dog to the household.
• You must own your home to adopt a puppy. If you rent we will ONLY consider an adult placement (over the age of 2).
• If you rent please verify that your landlord will allow pit bulls (we will check). And renters must have a 1 year rental history at current location.
• If you own, verify that your home owner’s insurance covers the Pit bull breed (if not, we would be happy to give you the name of companies that do not breed discriminate).
• Please verify that your community does not have any breed specific legislation.
