Blue is certainly one special puppy! While he may be deaf, he didn’t let that stop him from being the STAR of the show when it came to a prison dog training program for dogs. He is a very smart boy who has learned hand signals and has graduated from the Rykers program, being the first deaf dog to do so. He knows a lot of tricks and is dog social. It was said that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house from the inmates when it came to Blu graduating and leaving the program. This is what his foster mom has to say about him… And we might add that his foster mom is 80 years old and says he is wonderful, amazing and EASY! Beginner dog for sure!
“Looking for a puppy full of promise? Well here he is folks! This strikingly beautiful young male is busy showing the world that being born deaf is not necessarily a handicapping condition. Blu who just graduated from the Riker’s Island 8 week “Paws of Purpose” program has mastered several tricks and loves to follow hand signals to show off his new manners. He’s immaculate in the house, walks easily on a leash and loves everybody he meets along the way. He’s also VERY dog-friendly so far and would do very well with a lively female playmate who could match his adolescent exuberance.”
