Fort Plain Dogs
Everyone from Out of the Pits would like to extend our deepest thank you to all those who helped with the dogs from the Fort Plain cruelty raid. New York State Troopers, lead BCI investigators, local law enforcement, OOTP’s volunteers and fireman worked side by side in sub-zero weather to remove the dogs from their chains. Our fosters were able to take in 24 dogs the evening of the raid and firemen and New York State Troopers stayed on location with salamander heaters until morning to keep the remaining 27 dogs as comfortable as possible while we worked on places for them. We were able to find housing for a total of 36 dogs with OOTP’s foster homes and boarding. Out of the Pits sincerely thanks the shelters and other animal rescues that were able to house some of the dogs until their surrender to us this month! We are also grateful to those who will be placing their dogs! We would never have been able to handle a rescue of this magnitude without a joint effort of all involved! We will be having fundraisers to help with the ongoing costs for the dogs, including vet care, spay/neuter surgeries, and boarding. If you care to do so, you may also make a donation on our website at www.outofthepits.org. Thank you again for your support of this great breed!
